“Oh no, not writing…” Too often, this is the reaction of students when they hear that it is time to write. This course will help your students see themselves as published authors. Professionals taking this course will be able to create a functional Writer’s Workshop in their classroom. Participants will examine successful ways to teach writing concepts. During their journey through this course, they will explore the use of portfolios, mini-lessons as tools for writing and conferencing. Teachers will leave this course with a basic understanding of Writer’s Workshop and the tools that are necessary to start it in their classrooms. They will also leave the class with a collection of minilessons, websites, and the knowledge to begin their own program.
