Yoga, in some form or another, can be applied in every classroom for every age group. This course is designed to introduce participants to underlying theories of the discipline of Yoga, and provide a sampling of different types of yoga techniques and practices. All educators can improve their own well-being as they discover new ways to help their students diffuse stress and work towards greater health. This class is a perfect way to meet training requirements for the ELA Common Core Standards, as it engages participants in evaluative writings in response to primary sources. It also addresses the concerns of Grades 6-12 Literacy in History/Social Studies as well as NYS Learning Standards for ELA, Health, Physical Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Career Development and Occupational Studies, Science and LOTE.
