With so much emphasis on the NYS exams, it’s hard for students to look at literature as something enjoyable. This course will emphasize the importance of differentiating instruction, modeling, and teaching reading strategies to help students not only become better readers but to enjoy reading. Elementary teachers will create graphic organizers, activities, and lessons that they will utilize in their classrooms to enhance their existing literacy program.
